Did Anyone ever notice on a 2001 Auto.....

Did anyone ever notice that if you put the car in 3rd(Auto) in a 2k1, and accelerate, the rpm will be at the same place as the speed. 2krpm=40mph, 60=3krpml, 80=4krpm, and on and on.....did anyone ever notice that, its so cool ...but only works in 3rd gear

Hmmm, are you sure?

If that's true, then 2krpm will be 120mph. I know for a fact that this isn't true because I only got up to 100mph in 3rd auto.

BTW, good find. Drive safe.

can't be you got to a 100mph with 3rd(auto)...when redlineing its 126mph....

and people its no problem looking at it....i was just with the O/D off, and you look at the speed and you just see the rpm is on the same spot the speedomteter is....i accelerated to 60mph and the same thing....and i know 100mph is at 5k cuz i watched Kev doing it on the highway when he made a short clip.

I'll bet this is actually sorta done intentionally. It's a mental thing. 3rd gear is 1-to-1, so it only makes sense that the tach needle should be in the same position as the speedometer so that they're parallel. My Accord V6 is like this too.

The Accords 3rd gear is an overdriven 0.95:1 ratio so technically, the tachometer on the Accord should be spinning slower than the speedometer.
