2000 tranny swap

Hey guys, my transmission had been giving problems and I was advised to get a used one. I have a 2000 maxima and when purchasing I was told that the 2000/2001 maxima/infiniti trannys are interchangeable. I got the used tranny but when swapping we realised it has a cap where the vehicle speed sensor goes on the previous transmission. We went ahead and swapped the trannies and now the speedometer won't work. I was wondering if it's possible to remove the cap/plug on the tranny i bought to fit the vss in???

What you were told is correct. 2000 & 2001 Infiniti and Maxima all use the same transmission, model RE4F04B, model code number 85X05.

But in 2002, the VSS was eliminated and the cars used the ABS sensors for the speedometer. The transmission model is still RE4F04B, but the model code number changed to 88X04.

I don't know if the part inside the transmission that the VSS sensor "sensed" is still there.
