Hey org, I was looking to run replace the magnadrone muffler I currently have put on by the previous owner to something with less drone. I like the tone of the muffler, but it drones from 2000-2500 rpm so bad to the point where I get headaches whenever I drive from the noise.

The muffler is just welded on from the stock b-pipe back so the resonator is still there. I have heard a few other members' cars with the vibrant 1148 stealth black muffler and it sounds sporty but not drony if you know what I mean.

I have read up about putting a resonator in but to my understanding, it will just tone down the noise but not the noise as that is the muffler's role. I just want to know if anyone who has used this muffler has had any drone like what I described above.

I have this axle back exhaust but in full chrome. I kept the stock mid/b pipe.

It sounds great - nice purr without any drone. I'd recommend it

I,m guessing that the pipe size for the stock exhaust is around 2.25 on the straight parts. Since these resonators have an inlet/outlet of 2.5, would that create a bottleneck in my exhaust coming out of the resonator?

 

I have the OBX headers & OBX Cat back resonator & muffler. And I have that nasty Drone too! I thought I needed a different resonator to tone down. Does anybody have any experience with OBX exhaust? I'm wondering if this muffler would help the drone.
