2002 no crank

I bought a 2002 maxima for my girl for 1000 bucks. Everything goes fine, until one day she calls me saying that the car doesn't wanna crank. I got there try to crank the car and nothing. All the lights on the dashboard come on but when you try to crank all you hear is a click. So I assumed it was the starter. I went to autozone got one for 120 got back and put it on, and when I tried to crank again click.. could someone help me out

I had this same exact problem a couple of months ago. The starter I bought from autozone was refurbished, and faulty. Ended up buying a brand new starter from NAPA and no problems ever since but my fingers are crossed.

Try tapping on the starter a few times and see if it will crank, go buy a brand new starter, and get your money back from autozone!

Rockauto.com sells a brand new starter made by Hitachi/Tyco for $73 (plus about $10 shipping). I have not used this starter, but in general, I have good experience with the quality of parts they sell.

You could also have an issue with the a dead "Crank Position Sensor" ... just tossing out another possibility other than the Starter itself.
