Must do if you have an early 5th

I Finally picked up a set of i30 horns today from a junkyard and installed them. The difference is amazing! No longer is my horn laughed at by those who deserve the horn to be blown at them. It went from clown horn to loud and noncomical. Im not sure, but id assume that the 2002s and 2003s have the air horns rather than the 2000-2001 wimpy disc horns? If someone could clarify.. thatd be great. Sorry if its been covered before.. but I wanted to share my first car modifying experience that wasnt a major PITA! Hahaha

That being said.. who else has done this?

i myself like my annoying little 4th gen horn. it reminds me of the cars age when import horns were different from domestic. any louder and it would annoy me.

I just could not stand mine.. it was bately audible to other cars on the highway. I had the final two straws when 1) I nearly got hit by someone in a parking lot.. I was in the aisle stopped and they started backing into me. I hit the horn over and over yet they kept coming. I got out of my car and asked why the hell they didnt stop when I kept hitting the horn. He replied " sorry I thought that horn sounded like it was really far away so I kept going"... he was about 2 inches from my car. 2) my girlfriend makes fun of me every time I lock the car hahaha

I have Hella horns - 116 decibels. Had them in my 94 Max and transferred them after the 94 was totaled. They used to be the stock horn in the Mercedes Benz.

Trust me, youll love the i30 over the maxima horn anyday.. otherwise youre a naruto fan and an avid anime **** watcher

I set off my alarm on purpose on my way out to my car after work today just to hear the sound of the sweet horn lmao. Everytime I go downstairs I look out the window and lock it 2 or 3 times hahaha
my neighbor got mad at me when I first put it in when I was testing it , too lol

It's been a few years. I had to make/add a ground wire for the Hella horn as it does not ground through the case like the Nissan horn. I think I also had to drill out the hole in the mounting bracket for the horn's mounting stud.

Doing the horn in front of the radiator is tight working quarters. The 5.5 gen has a removable grill that would save the skin on your knuckles.

Oh - I also painted the horn behind the grill flat black. Hella horns are bright red. I took the front piece of the horn off to paint it. Easy enough, it's held on by screws.

That doesnt sound too bad at all! and trust me my knuckles have no skin after removing the trim ring on the front grill and replacing it with a chrome one plus the horn install

Hm, can't remember the last time I cared about a horn. Oh yeah, because I never did. Who needs a horn?? Just go around whatever a-hole you have to, what's the use of honking? Floor it and forget the horn, we used to get tickets in Brooklyn, NY for honking so **** all that I got used to just violently flooring it!

Quite a few people have replied and done the same so quite frankly you're the minority here, not that theres an issue with that ..but if you dont care about what your horn sounds like then dont make comments and go on to the next thread!
