AE skirts on SE

Recently picked up some side skirts thanks to a fellow org member!
Now..obviously I dont have the holes in the side for the tabs on the skirts and id like to avoid making holes if possible in the rockers because I want to avoid rust. the 3m tape I have didnt really wanna stick unfortunately. I had the idea to use the rubber butyl (something like that) that I have left over from a tail light swap to hold the topside to the body so it sits flush and doesnt fall off! Any thoughts on this? Plausible idea or should I consider other routes. TIA!

I used different brands of 3m tape and not all work the same. The white one was good for like a week. The gray one has been holding the window spoiler for two year now.

Like others have said, the gray 3M tape with the red backing is the stuff you want as it is much stronger than the white tape. Also, in my experience, 3M tape is harder to apply in humid weather, so it might help if you do it on a dry day with low humidity.

More... If there is rust where the side skirt is supposed to go fix it up or get a bodyshop to fix up the rust spots and also clean area is important.
