Finally, back in a 5.5
Well, after 1 year and 11 months, I own yet another 5.5 6 spd, my second one. Sooooo happy to be driving this again
I previously sold my 03 6spd WV2 to my cousin and he got rid of it for an 2001 Audi S4 ....*smh* lolll
Picked up an 03 6 spd HLSD, QX1 glacier pearl white. Leather electric seats, sunroof. Brand new windshield. 2001 Anniv Ed tails. Exedy OEM spec clutch, Fidanza lightweight flywheel, aluminium crank pulley, custom after rear-seat exhaust(lol). It sounds nice, deep tone, a little bit of drone, not too bad. Also has 18 inch Altima SE-R rims on fresh bfgoodrich g-force t/a KDW.
He wanted 5k before winter with working engine, asked me 3k for it 3 weeks ago, but had to put a engine in it, so I got a 75k miles i35 engine in it (700$ for engine, 550$ swap labor and fluids).
It hauls a$$. Forgot about the torque steer when i floored it the first time LOLL.
Previous owner put over 10k in it, i have all the receipts. It still needs a lot of love though. Bumpers are not straight. I also believe the rear passenger was hit because of the ****ty weldings and screws that are present in the trunk. Undercarriage needs attention, rockers are bent a few places, floors are very good. Could use a good sandblast and POR-15. On the to do list. As well as get a new cluster, the gas gauge is not giving the right readings and i almost ran out of gas. Auto diagnosis revealed faulty cluster.
Will post pics later.

It needs a drop, i know.
Also needs a lip, OEM fogs, lateral link and keep going. I gotta start all over again with this one.
I already have another project going though, so it'll stay stock until the track monster is done. 93 suzuki swift gt-turbo if anyone wanted to know

Thanks guys !
I have a nice little "free" project coming up in the next weeks.
Stay tuned, i think it will be one of a kind on the org. I havent found anyone that did it yet, I searched yes. And it wasnt available in the options. Enough hints
NSMO240: if i would have went N/A yes for 9k redline(a local friend goes 10k), but im gonna keep it low rev with a turbo, 7500 will be enough.
Chris Gregg: thx bud ! were you able to source a black carpet since we last spoke ?

Anyone notice my licence plate ? too bad the A is not before.

I have been busy with her for the last weeks. Here's an update.
I first changed out the cluster as the gas gauge was stuck. The new one works perfect. I put cool white LEDs from SuperBrightLeds.com in. Now the previous owner told me the check engine didnt work. Ok i can work with that.
He didnt know though that the owner before him ripped some of them out... ABS, AIRBAG and CHECK ENGINE to be precise....

At the same time that I installed my LEDs in the cluster, I changed the ugly red LEDs from the licence plate
DIRTY !!
Replaced the oil pan, as the wreckers that sold me the 75k miles i35 engine let it sit on the oil pan, so it distorted the oil drain plug a little bit, enough to let it drip.
Replaced the high pressure power steering hose.
Then I went to Nissan for a CONSULT 3 analysis to be sure i had all them : rear left ABS sensor, 2 x evap canister codes and b1s2 o2 sensor(my obd2 said the same), front crash zone sensor(airbag self analysis said the same thing with 1 long 6 short).
While I was there I picked up a Lateral link, a long bolt and 4 nuts to replace the rotted out thing.
It also got a thorough cleaning on the outside(2.5 hours). And headlight quick restore with toothpaste, that worked out okay, it made a little difference at least.
took out the other ugly fog, to only have one, better to have none.

Thanks !
Yeah i think it was in an accident, the rear is crooked and the welding job in the back is really sh*tty. My body shop buddy told me that it's most probably a question of playing around and readjusting the panels, hood, trunk, headlights and bumpers. Other things to be done as well that bother me.

Why I came back ? this is my opinion though not everyone will agree.
I loved the car all around, power is enough to take over when needed, better mpg than my SUV, handling can be tamed, the little luxury stuff, the quality of finish, the heated steering wheel(always impresses my friends LOL), aftermarket support is limited but the quality of the parts are there. THIS FORUM and the people are and always have been there, some are dipsh*ts but 95% are awesome. Of course the car has it's little things that bothered me but not to a point of disgust. Also I had unfinished business with mine as I havent gone to where i wanted to.
Depends on what you want in terms of "moving on" from the 5.5 6 spd. There are a lot of choices out there though, it's personnal choices from there on. If I had to move on I would go with a Mitsubishi Evolution 6.5 TME.
Now, the guys that did go up a few notches are people that had this car long enough and went far with it, to a point where exploiting the car in all points was at, or almost at peak limit. Some went for Audi's, some went to TL's, others to STi, to mustang, name it.
It's all what you want/need.
If you want a better platform, more power potential, better handling, say a g37x(if you want to stay in the nissan family) or something similar or rwd, go ahead.
It is of course to today's standards, a little under powered, but enough to still beat/keep up with ones that least expect it. It is an underdog. Start slapping some stuff in though and you will rip heads off.
I was neck and neck with my friend in his 2012 mazdaspeed 3. So I wasnt disappointed at all. And he beat a sh*t load of other cars.
sorry for writing a book :P

When this one crokes one day, I'll probably look into the newest Maxima available at the time. Great car though.
