More of these need to be on the streets, I am very pleased with the outcome so far.

That's beastly, that motor in a 5th gen body = the Maxima that Nissan should have built

^ honestly

if Nissan came out with the 2015 Maxima and did a throwback styling refresh that would probably actually sell. Look how popular the old 5th gens were, theyre still ALLLLL over the road, people liked the styling.

Dump the new non oil burning motor in the 2002 - 2003 body thats fresh from the factory and youve got a very nice all around car.

Make it RWD and itd be a home run.... at least in my brain

I'm curious why yall didn't just utilize the existing 7th gen accessory drive pulley system...It would have worked without all that chopping and cutting right?

Well any reason why I can't get an answer? I've emailed you SurraTT, pm'd you, posted a reply, I'm running out of ideas on contacting you regarding my question (in reply #11 above)....I would think that the 7th Gen serpentine belt system would fit even easier in the 5th Gen chassis cause it's a single row of pulleys instead of a dual row like the OEM 5th Gen setup....I would like to know cause to me it would've be easier to swap to 7th Gen P/s pump or pulley and a/c compressor....leaving the 7th accessory drive as is while stuffing it in the 5th Gen...I know the upper oil pan and lower oil pan will be needed from the 5th Gen VQ35de but I wanna try this a utilize the 7th Gen accessory drive so that no chopping is necessary....can I please get a response?

didn't you email me? I send a reply explaining it.

ill just post it here too then so everyone can see since this is such a big issue.

Hey,

There are a lot of reasons why i put the 5.5 belt system on the motor. The main one is most motors do not come with any accessories. So if you wanted to use 7th gen stuff you have to buy ps pump, a/c, and alternator. That alone is reason not to use them, also the lines going to them would be a issue mostly the a/c. Its not hard at all to get the 5.5 gen system working on the 7th gen motor. No issues really.

again its not hard at all to get 5.5 gen belt system working on the 7th gen motor, the very little cutting needed far outweighs the hassle of using 7th gen system.

sorry for clogging up your thread Jon.

I don't know about all that B.S. about someone else doing the swap first before his site, blah, blah, blah. All I know is respect the swap and the people who actually do it and not just talk about doing it. Thanks to all the people who had positive and respectable comments. Dyno # will take place as soon as possible. Have other priorities at the current time. No biggie Darren, this is what this thread is about, spreading the word. Knowledge is power, folks best get hip! Or NAH!

Good job OP, good to see an auto get into the mix.
Darren, could you respond to my PM? I'm serious about doing this, and I think it would be cool for a 5th gen(not 5.5) to have this motor
