exhaust shop quote
Hello org nation.
Need some advice on the quote that I got today at a local shop. I replaced few things before but not the whole exhaust, so i thought i'd ask. They also said that they cant put a test pipe instead of high flow cat.
Flex pipe
High flow cat.
Resonator
2.5" push bent piping
Magnaflow muffler
$950 +tax
With mandrel piping $1150+tax.

Any details on the resonator, HFC, and muffler?
Seems high.
I paid 250$ back in the day for an entire catback with an MF muffler. No cat or flex pipe though.
For that $$$ you can get an SS system, a test pipe for probably even less than that.

I believe he said their resonators and mufflers brand name was solo. I asked for magnaflow so he brought one out but I didn't get the part number. It was about half the size of the oem one. They wouldn't do the test pipe because of the emissions test. Yes cattman would be nice but its hard to get a hold of them plus shipping to canada would be decent too.

i feel you on the shipping, people in the states have no clue how cheap they're getting things including gas. 91 octane in the greater toronto are is like $1.50+ a liter... thats $5.70 a gallon.

here's some things to look at
cat back
http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_trksi...at=0&_from=R40
y pipe with flex if you really do need it otherwise save your money
http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_odkw=...+2002&_sacat=0
and imo the ebay cat back mufflers aren't too ugly for the 5th gen like they are for the 4th but i would replace it with a nice magnaflow or vibrant with dual tips. go to magnaflow or vibrant's website and find a muffler you like then type in the company name and part number on ebay and look for the lowest price. if you're gonna replace it you'll have to take it to an exhaust shop for them to weld it on.

bro wtf man thats pricey... i would go ebay for cat back which is mandrel bent and t304 stainless steel. like $400 shipped and you can install yourself. if your flex pipe is broken then get a replacement y pipe on ebay as well, they're not that expensive. if its not broken leave it stock, same with the cat. you're not gaining any noticeable power by doing what you listed there so you might as well save money and have a decent exhaust with nice sound. ebay quality is just fine, my SRS ebay exhaust for my 4g was great for 4 years before i sold it and is still in good shape after winters and salt. with the money saved you could buy some intake manifold spacers and a vias block off plate. all 3 of those should get you something from the butt dyno and will put smile on your face

Go to Hot Rod Scott's on Kipling and Scott will hook you up,you can bring your own Muffler, flex pipe y pipe etc and they will install it for you for a reasonable price,or you can choose from the wide variety of products they have there,i shopped around and they seem to be of best service and reasonable pricing.Oh and he has different types of Mufflers including Magnaflow mufflers,i went with the Magnaflow #14816 looks best on a 5th gen imo.

I have to say that sounds about right. I do exhaust for a living. Please understand the hours and time spent, especially a shop that does great work. Yeah, you could buy a elcheapo ebay system that half way fits, or pay the 950 and have one custom made.. Get my point. Price the parts your self, and buy them even. Take it to them, and you should only be charged a 2-3 hours labor max for the install. Goodluck
Wow man I live 10 min from there! Pm me your number!
Zoro is good my mom paid like 600 for her mandrel bent and high flow cat on her sentra. Pretty sure she coulda had crush bent stainless steel but they prob tried to squeeze money out of her. If I was more knowledgeable when I was younger I woulda had her get that crush bent. Anyways that's still way too expensive for what you're getting

Nice tire meat! Sorry to sai but that looks like a 14" Magnaflow muffler....It's cute but too small to do the job....drone city is where you might be going...I see the other small resonator just fwd of the rear axle....What was your cost? Cattman should charge at $1200 for his exhaust system! It will outlast the car!
Actually there was zero drone, when i first got this muffler with the factory precats and y-pipe,it started droning when i removed precats and y-pipe, that's the reason u see another resonator,I got my exhaust done in 2 visits from flex pipe back to muffler,if i remember correctly it came up to a total of $650,but i did'nt need a cat so that would of totaled $750,oh and what do you mean by to small to do the job? what job? if i wanted a quiet muffler i would of went OEM,but thanks for pointing that out.Another thing,i went to Zorro muffler but after getting an outrageous price i went to Scott's.
