P0455 & p0442

Engine light is on and shows 2 codes which are P0455 (EVAP LARGE LEAK)
and P0442 (EVAP SMALL LEAK).

Had any one had these two problems and fix them?
Any one know how to solve these problems?
Are these codes the reason why gas is always running out quickly.

half tank gone in 105 miles. is that normal?

Nope, pretty sure no one has ever had this problem on a nearly 13 year old car.

I'm sure there are more.

Try taking it to a shop to get a smoke test done to find the source. Is the p0442 a pending code? Maybe your evap leak just got worse or a solenoid is stuck. Alot of times the small leaks can be as silly as the gas cap isn't on tight or is no good but a smoke test should reveal the leak.

I bought a new gas cap for it and erased the code and hasn't turned on ever since. Hope that solves that issue.

Sounds good. Like I had mentioned sometimes it can be as simple as the gas cap and is the most inexpensive part to start with. If that didn't solve it from there you would do a smoke test. It can also sometimes be the purge canister stuck. Those 2 are probably about the most common. Keep an eye on it. Usually if your tank is full or close to full it won't throw the code but once it gets below a quarter tank or so is generally when the code will pop up.

Got that P0455 code erased and I just replaced the fuel pump with one from the junkyard(pick-n-pull) hopefully that solves the issue for the small evap leak (P0442) and Now another code came up and it is the brake switch(P1572). Any one familiar with that one?????
