p0505 BEFORE I WASTE A TON OF CASH
PLZ help, my brother gave me his 2000 maxima and said if I can fix it its mine. It has the p0505 code and 2 others, p0306 misfire in 6 and p1320 vacuum leak cam sensor. Ive done a ton of research on the p0505 and pulled my ecu, which is fine. Hit the maf with cleaner , no change. I found a broken blow by hose coming from the pcv. When this hose is connected the car wont idle. The pcv is not clogged. If I disconnect the hose and the maf at the same time the car idle at 1000 rpm. If the maf is reconnected and the hose is just off the tube the car will idle 700-800 rpm. Not sure if its the iac or tps. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Guys plz don't respond with " I have the same issue", im looking for an answer and sifting through pages of problems without answers has become very time consuming. Thx again..

Wuz up and welcome to your max!
First start by acquiring the FSM pdf.
Than you can troubleshoot the misfire code on cyl6 .followed by a quick read on pcv system how it works then on the other code im not familiar with sorry

You state that it idles at 7 to 800 rpm with the maf hooked up and the pvc hose off? Generally you would get an irratic idle with the maf unplugged. 7 to 800 rpm is normal at idle. Make sure the vacume hose you are putting on the pvc is the right hose and not something silly like the tranny vent hose otherwise your idle at 7 to 800 rpm is normal. As for your misfire in cylinder six check the spark plug then check the coil by unplugging it to see if there is any change in tone or idle when you unplug the coil or boot from cylinder 6 or swap it with another coil to see if your misfire moves to the other cylinder you swapped it with.
