Need help with my 2000 nissan maxima

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE, the other day I was driving down the highway and I was doing about 60 and then it felt like my car was struggling to go. It started going slower, so I pulled on the side of the road and it kept stalling. I would wait a couple minutes and start it back up and start to go like 20 mph, and then it would cut off again. Now my car wont start at all. I just looked at the MAF censor and it looks like the resistor is missing. Could this be the reason it happened?

Your 2000 MAF doesn't have a resistor, that's on the 02-03 Maxima MAFs. But from what you describe sounds like could be MAF. Is your CEL on? Any codes? That would help diagnose greatly.

As for testing MAF:

unplug MAF and try to start car -- if car starts and stays running with MAF unplugged but runs horribly when it's plugged in the MAF is bad. You can also try cleaning it with CRC MAF cleaner and see if it helps but if the sensor is fried it wont help.

And when you do unplug MAF dont drive the car if it runs, it will be in limp mode on default ECU settings. if this is the case replace MAF w/ OEM part only (DO NOT buy aftermarket if you want no problems) and get the 2k1 MAF over the 2000 because it's slightly upgraded part and better (it has a green dot on it)

Your help has already been offered. Not sure if you're flatly refusing it, or just don't like the answer in general, but you're not going to get any better advice than that at this point. The best advice has already been offered. Go to the dealership and buy a new MAFS. Or try a salvage yard, and see if you can find one.

One way or another, you have MAFS issues.

And the thermistor you're referring to is the air temp sensor for the 02-03 Maxima. The 00-01 has the IAT as a separate piece, so this would not be the problem.
