Modification Advice Please!

I just picked up a 2002 Infiniti I35 (2002 Maxima) with 93,000 on the dash.

I really want to get 2006 Nissan 350z wheels and tires for nice handling.

What about lowering springs?

Do stock struts work with lowering springs? Will it help my car handle better?

NWP Engineering Block Off Plate? Thermal Intake Manifold Spacers? Add HP?

Do the OBX Headers make a noticeable difference? Worth $325 on Amazon?

What about Exhaust? 3in Straight Pipe from OBX Headers? Too Loud? I would like my car to be aggressive and loud at idle and scream when accelerating!

Head Lights?

Im not trying to rice my car out, I am trying to gain 30HP and make it look aesthetically pleasing and clean. Links to Parts and videos or pictures are much appreciated!

Thanks!

do a search, even if you did a Google search you could literally find the answer for every question.

Thanks for the list and I think I can find most of the items but what about just lowering springs? These:
http://www.autoanything.com/suspensi...lfHOs9qc3w_wcB

And what specifically on exhaust? Will straight piping from OBX headers sound good? Or should I put a Glass Pack for Resonator and then straight pipe? Or what is a good loud Exhaust system? Links Please!

Thanks!

First thing you need to do is to replace all the spark plug including the the 1,3,5 ignition coil with OEM Genuine parts the 2,4,6 you can retain the old ignition or replace it with aftermarket parts ( its accessible compare to the rear bank).
Change the rear valve cover and gasket with OEM genuine parts
: Install PCV oil catcher (ADD W1 oil catch can at ebay or amazon.)
: install Block plate ( increased HP above 3000rpm)
:Install nwp (Phenolic Thermal Intake Manifold Spacer Kit)
http://www.nwpengineering.com/Phenolic_Spacers.html
:install the 75mm big bore throttle body
:Convert to OEM airbox to ghetto airbox: I bore 4 holes 1inc diameter on top, of the removable holder of the air filter.
:Used K& N filter
: I install cattman stainless Y pipe.
: I will not recommend test pipe (noisy)
: I will not recommend OBX headers, a lot of problem on the fitting
:for exhaust: megan catback exhaust.
: If you can get the cattman brand (used)
: Install front strut bar and rear sway bar.
: For strut , I recommend Tokico if you can get one and Bilstein.
: For lowering read this :http://www.shiftice.com/spring_strut_decision.html

- test pipe is illegal where I live so car has a hi flow cat and big resonator.
- Find cattman for headers
- When you are doing spark plugs, consider the gen 6 rear valve cover too

The Maxima just is not a popular platform though so keep this in mind!

Depends which 350Z wheels, and tires. Lighter is better, and grippier tires are probably the best mod you can do to any car.

Suspension wise, at this age, Struts/springs first, then RSB. The struts are probably worn by now. I'd recommend Eibach / Tokico Illuminas.

Never use stock struts with lowering springs. Always change, especially stock struts with 93k.

NWP Parts? Excellent. Good power to be found, and quality parts.

Headers make a big difference on this car. Fitment varies from brand.

If you have exhaust laws in your state, yes, headers/testpipe/3" exhaust will be loud. 3" for power, but add resonators, and high flow cat to keep it legal.
Cattman 3" is the best exhaust you can find for this car.

Go to theretrofitsource.com for Morimoto D2R bulbs. High quality, and don't go above 6000K, otherwise you will rice your car out and lose too much visible light on the ground.

OP, read my suspension thread. All the info you need. And if you're local to NY/NJ/CT/PA/DE, I can do the install for you.

Thank you so much for the useful info but... The struts were replaced 6,000 miles ago with brand new ones but they were replaced by infiniti and are stock oem struts with only 6,000 on them is this still ok? Also I cant seem to find anything on Cattman? Links? Website shut down? I have also heard of vibrant performance mufflers and they look like very good quality as well.

Thanks!

So does all these things make the car faster or just loud and annoying to drive?

OEM struts weren't valved to be on lowering springs. You need something that was designed for it. You're better off saving those struts for if you ever return to stock, or sell them as lightly used OEM struts.

Don't think you deserve to be spoon fed.

There's a lot more info on here that can be searched, and it should be. If you're competent enough to use Google, you can search a forum.

plus 3, you will turn those fresh oem struts to mush in no time if you use them with "lowering" springs

@My2002I35

Keep asking away OP!

Eventually you will be able to search efficiently

- Save up for some coil overs
- Use the stock springs/struts for winter/fall
- Use the coil overs for summer/spring/early fall
- Search for "brian cat" to find out how to contact cattman
