5th Gen Maxima Restrictor?

Hey, I have a 2000 Maxima and I was just wondering if it had restrictors on it, in terms of the exhaust system, that limits the sound and if it was possible to remove them? My cousin has a 1992 Lexus SC300 and he removed his, added two Magnaflow mufflers and it sounds amazing. New to the whole car thing, so just wondering. Also, if I place the Magnaflow 14832 Performance Muffler on mine (2.25" inlet, 4" outlet), and keep everything else stock for the time being, would it sound any better? Thanks

Think about what you want to do as a whole, and then act. These cars can get really loud when modifying the y-pipe/headers/test pipe. If you plan on getting headers, I'd stay away from that small muffler. But, if all you want is a little sound, the resonator and add that muffler.

Looks like you're going to put on a loud muffler and think it's so much faster anyway
because the stock exhaust restricts like a ton of power.

Just do it and learn. We've all done it in the past.

It'll be plenty loud with just the muffler. But at least it won't be raspy b/c of the stock res. She's fairly quiet at idle, but rev it up and

I love the sound, but there's no perf. increase, OP. And if you have headers and leave to work at 7 am WOT every day the neighbor gets pissed

Go for a dual tip, though. The melon launcher looks stupid after awhile.

For just a little more of an aggressive sound, the muffler will definitely do. Any straight thru muffler compared to the OEM spring loaded one will sound different and give a more aggressive tone on our cars because both outlets are always open.

Reminds me of those Corvette exhausts, where all the cool guys take out the exhaust fuse so all four outlets are always open and you get the awesome sound all the time not just when you push it.

Thank you guys so much! I'm going to go ahead and just change the muffler, then call it a day.
