Cam chain replacement

Cam chain replacement
Yeah , yeah, I know you guys say these chains are good for the life of the car, but I had a friend ask to replace them so I took on the job. I forgot the bolts in impossible places Nissan like so much!
2000 Maxima with 200k miles.
Yes, it could have gone longer with those same parts, but there WAS WEAR. Its pretty obvious looking at the sprockets. The "2nd" tensioner took a big beating with some nasty score lines on them. If anything those should be marked for replacement within 200k.
No you dont have to do all the wacky steps that is in the manual, but I did frustrate myself finding out some of the things you really have to do!
I took pics with the work. I'll be happy to share info and pics for the future when someone REALLY needs to do this job.
Let me know if you are interested. If not, I'll just pop off this forum until I have another Maxima I need a tip for.
Since none of you know me, I'm the guy people find when the other mechanics cant fix a car or give a totally WACKY diagnosis. I find the REAL problems and fix them. I like Japanese engineering and specialize in them. 2 wheels or four. I'm NOT ASE certified, because those are the guys whose mistakes I fix. I just try and do a job RIGHT.

There are some VQ30's with nearly what, 400k?
I had it done stupidly on my 95 back in 01 when it had maybe 180-210k, all it needed was an exhaust fix leak, but someone deterred me otherwise. There wasn't and noticeable wear, and it could have gone a lot longer, and it was about the age of yours.
SurraTT is ASE certified and I can't remember the last time he made a mistake.
In any case, I agree, most if not 99% of Nissan techs are dimwits.
