Collant dripping from IACV

Well my newly installed IACV has a small coolant leak. Drips every 15-20 seconds. I have read on this forum, that this can lead to shorting out the IACV. One thread I was reading recommended by-passing the coolant from the IACV entirely. Looks pretty easy to do. Is this a good procedure, or should I apply some gasket maker sealant to reseal unit? Thanks!

Whether it's the "best" idea or not, I'd bypass that thing immediately, and discuss it later.

Is it leaking because it uses a gasket but you did not use one?

I used the gasket that came with the OEM part. I removed and applied sealant and no leak this morning. Sounds like it's recommended to by-pass?

why would you wanna bypass it? The point of coolant is to keep the IVAC cool, otherwise it'll get too hot and get fried since it is electronic part, especially engine heat and electronic will not bode well and will end up shorting out the electronic

By-passing is added insurance in case there is coolant leakage which can result in a short of the IACV and fry your ECU. Which is worse? Having a throttle body and IACV that is a bit warm or frying your ECU?

You decide...this is why people by-pass the cooling.

Coolant is used to warm the throttle body during COLD weather to prevent sticking, as far as I know.
