Seat Covers

My wife has a fully loaded 6 spd 2003 with power seats (i think both front seats are powered) and there is a large hole in the leather on the drivers side seat. I want to get a good set of seat covers, not generic ones from auto zone or something like that. Anyone have any experience on actual high quality fitted seat covers specifically for the 2003 maxima?

Personally I would keep an eye on the For Sale threads in the 5th gen classified section looking for a Max that is being parted out and pickup replacement leather front seats, or check out the scrap yards and try to find a couple of 5th gen front leather seats in good condition ... seat covers are pretty tacky

I had a set of custom fitted seat covers i found for one of my Xterras. was hoping there was a similar set for a maxima. they were neoprene and totally fitted for my car. is a 5th gen with black leather and power seats pretty rare or should that be easy to find?

Carid.com makes custom fit seat covers that you can get in leather, neoprene, etc. They don't look bad at all and you can get the Nissan logo stitched into the headrest. They are very snug, no loose/wrinkled crap hanging around. I have a 2000 and my driver's seat leather is toast. I've been looking for months in the junk yards for leather but haven't found anything that is in any good condition. You can also try car-parts.com, which I've also been looking at for a while, but with no luck. I guess if I search long enough I'll find them. I think I may look into the neoprene, it looked really good in my wife's Xterra, so surely it wouldn't look bad in the Maxima.

emaxima, does your wife have the Car ID ones? I had a set of nice neoprenes in my xterra but I don't remember where they came from. If they are the Car ID ones, couldld you possibly post some pictures of the fitment?

No, they were actually OEM from courtesynissan.com and cheaper, $160 for the front. They fit really well, but we don't have the Xterra anymore so no pics. The neoprene from Car ID are custom fit, so they'll be more, I think they are $250, and the Nissan logo is $9 extra. The neo-supreme are cheaper, but not as thick and waterproof as the neoprene. I was actually going to get a set yesterday and saw that the stitching of the Nissan Logo is sold out until further notice, so I'll be waiting for those to get back in stock.

Will leather look better? Yes, of course, but I haven't had any luck as of yet so the neoprene option isn't looking too bad. I think with the Nissan logo stitched into the headrest though will make it look pretty decent though. We'll see, maybe I'll get lucky.

Don't all 5.5 gens have side air bags in the seats? If so you won't want to use seat covers on those seats.

The Coverking brand compensates for airbags and is an integrated feature.
