Heat shield on front precat

Do I really need it? I have been slowly building the courage to install my headers. I took the heat shield off the precat and decided I probably didn't have time to finish tonight(got things to do). It won't hurt anything to leave it off for a day or two would it?

An ase mechanic from sears will charge you to look at it and say it's an essential part of the engine and if removed would fail to pass emission testing in Virginia.

I left mine off after i changed the oem manifold gasket...been a while no issues
