High Pitched Whine/Squeal During Acceleration

Hey all, I was just curious if anyone would happen to know what that dreadful high pitched whine/squeal is while I accelerate. Hoping its not the dreaded timing chain tensioners or timing chain. And, yes... I recorded in the dreaded portrait orientation before anyone says anything about it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izm6...ature=youtu.be

Your car sounds like a muscle car. VROOOOOOM

I got similar sound too... Probably due to the mods (electrical noise from aftermarket stereo, alarm system etc or from the exhaust system????)

Sounds like a ground loop issue from an aftermarket head unit.

I just had the same problem, Thought it was the Idler Pully. Turned out to be the outer ring on the Harmonic Balancer.

How about alternator whine as a possible suspect as well. Sometimes they make strange sounds on their way to the scrap heap. Also, I've mentioned this before in other threads but this item here has saved me from numerous headaches locating strange noises. Get one and you'll save 90% of all guesswork. Hm interesting response guys, I was kind of leaning towards the alternator. However, I noticed the problem started a while back in early June when the Florida heat was hitting temps of 97 or higher. How would I go about checking for ground loops? I have a JVC single Din radio in the glovebox wired up to a metra 7551 Harness. Then I have an aux cord running to a nexus 7 Tablet as my main dash/radio. Guess I will check the connections from the JVC harness to the Metra HArness and go from there

Pull all power to speakers and see if it does it anymore on a quick drive around. If it does, that's your problem. After that you got options to reduce ground interference. See if it's that first.

Hey, I heard it at idle again and decided to lean over to my passenger speaker, and sure enough there it was squealing at me like a pig . Unplugging the aux cable to my tablet, the sound ceased to silence. I'm guessing I should just run a wire from the front right RCA cable and ground it to the tablet? Maybe it is a grounding issue as you and some others stated previously. Not really familiar with audio components of the car so feel free to help.
