Tri Synthetic vs. Synthetic

Whats the difference? What would you use? I see that the one which costs more (Mobil 1) is the Tri-Synthetic. any suggestions?

Check out the Mobil 1 website An off hand guess is the number/type/amount of chemicals that is used to make up the oil... Or maybe its a way to say that it's fully synthetic as opposed to a dino/synthetic blend. To answer your second question, I use Mobil 1, as do a lot of people around here.

and according to mobil website, it doesn't leak out of the seals,,and you can always switch back to regular...but some ppl here say that they don't use synthetic, cause eventually it will leak out of the seals, or weaken them

Mobil 1 changed its name slightly from Synthetic to tri-synthetic because the tri stuff is just like Castrol Syntec, a dino based synthetic oil. Can't beat them, join 'em I guess.

Either way, The Syntec and Mobil 1 are excellent oils.

Bogus - Mobil 1 is really synthetic - tri or otherwise. So are Amsoil amd Red Line. The rest (Castrol, Valvoline, Quaker State) got some unknowledgible court to declare it legal for them to call modified dino oil "synthetic". They are all good, the real synthetics are better, and more expensive.

Check this site out;

http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/Mobil1.htm

It doesn't say that Mobil 1 is not real, but it suggests it. I came across another url that said it, but can't find it now. But the fact is, Tri-synth ain't nothing like the orignal Mobil 1.

Syntec "Hydrocracks" petroleum oil - any company that does that blows. Use Mobil 1.

Read the link. You're right, Castrol cheated, but Mobil lost in court. It costs Castrol less to make Syntec, but charges the same price as Mobil 1. Therefore, Castrol is making a killing while Mobil 1, being true to syntheitc, is losing money. Mobil had to join in in order to stay competitive. Sucks, but the courts ruled it.

Don't hate the player, hate the game
