03 maxima security light should it come on for a few seconds when you turn the key?

03 maxima security light should it come on for a few seconds when you turn the key?
The red light on the dash is flashing. When I put the key in and turn to the second position should the red light stay solid for 5-7 seconds and then go out like it does on the 2001 and earlier cars? or? I am chasing a no start problem and read where these keys go bad.. Thanks in advance.
