Rotors and Brake Pads 2000 I30

I have a 2000 Infiniti I30 and I need to get my front Rotors and Pads replaced.

My plans are to purchase the Rotors and Pads from Rock Auto, where I have purchased parts in the past and have had good luck. I will then bring them to the local mechanic for installation.

I know little about cars and parts and when I go to the Rock Auto website, I have the option of buying Rotors and Brake Pads separately or buying a Rotor and Brake Pad kit. Rock Auto also separates the options by "Economy", "Daily driver", and "High Performance/Heavy Duty".

When I look at the Rotors and Brake Pad separately, I find it overwhelming. Simply there are way too many choices and I have no way to evaluate the choices other that by price.

Because I know very little about cars, it certainly would be easiest for me to go the route of the Rotor and Brake Pad kit and the mid range or "Daily Driver" seems appropriate. I see under “Daily Driver” that Rock Auto has a kit manufactured by Power Stop. The part number is KOE2280 and the price is $75.79.

If anyone is familiar with this brand and model, I would greatly appreciate your opinion on the quality and price. If anyone has another suggestion, including buying the Rotors and Brake Pads separately, and is familiar with the Rotors and Pads that Rock Auto sells, I would also greatly appreciate suggestions on which to buy.

Thank You.

Look in Amazon and make your selection from there, prices are good and free shipping, RockAuto is going to charge you shipping. You will have different option on rotors and pads. Pads, Hawks are the ones I would get, they are better but will hit you with 85+ bills on them. Rotors you can get front ones from $22 up to $300. I will be replacing my front rotors soon, powerslot, is the brand I have used. You can go with Brembo Blanks, but it all depends on how hard you drive your car.

The PowerStop kit (rotors + pads) works very well on my Maxima - it works very well and there is no shudder at all. It's also a very good deal. You should be able to install it yourself - the instructions come with the kit.

I bought my front pads and rotors on rockauto. I purchased the following:

Rotors
CENTRIC Part # 12542069 $50.79 each (need 2 of these)

Pads
AKEBONO Part # ACT815 $38.79 front set

Had them now for about 15K miles and no issues thus far and very good stopping power. These items are under the high performance/heavy duty section. I went there because of the frequent stop and go traffic I am in during the week. I felt like daily driver wouldn't satisfy me (personal preference).

As far as replacing them its was easy and doable with basic hand tools. see youtube for lots of how to's.
