Map lights change to LEDs help

I own a 2003 Nissan maxima and I purchased some LEDs and I'm having trouble with the map lights turning on is there more to it than plug n play?

map light

I installed mine, just plug and play. Some of the LED aftermarket in ebay have their positive or negative side reverse. Just reverse it when the light failed to turn on.

Nissan wired the map light socket with reverse polarity. Some leds will work with either polarity (like the ones from superbrightleds) because they add some extra circuitry. A lot of them don't.

Another thing - because the socket is wired with reverse polarity, it is easy to blow the fuse for the lights especially if you are sticking a screwdriver up in there.
