Exhaust is TOO LOUD!!!!!
So I installed my BRM 3" exhaust about a month ago, and I love it. This past weekend I replaced my MAF and finally installed my custommaxima headers and y pipe and The Max is Back!!! But, no it is loud as hell. I mean, like babies jumping out of cars behind me loud. It is also raspy, which I cannot stand. It drones some, but that is to be expected with a 3" exhaust. I already have one magnaflow resonator from BRM, but I am going to add another. I have narrowed it down to a Thrush Glasspack or a Vibrant extra quiet.
Any input or experience on what is better? Also, might be a dumb question, but would a Short Ram Intake help any with this? I am still running a stock intake.
Thanks

Because it would be the longest resonator available which is what you need with the current setup you are running, most other resonators are way too short and will not quiet things down. As for adding a short ram that is only going to increase your noise level with additional engine volume it would do nothing to quiet down exhaust noise or drone

Trust me, you don't want this kind of loud. The BRM exhaust by itself sounded really good, but when I did the headers and y pipe that was the end of that.
I will try to take a video of it before I get the extra resonator. I might go with the Magnaflow part # 12641

Tale a picture of the muffler from the tips looking inside, I wonder where the split is in it...
Also I wonder what's the overall length of the muffler? I think you can fit the 30" in there but the picture makes it look offly small like it's the 20" unit.
I say this because.... It could just be the catback design as a whole, Muffler and Resonator

I've been considering the dynomax VT to quiet down my altima. Stlll on the fence though.

by the sounds of it if you want to keep your current set up you would either need to add a res or get a longer one like previously stated. You can also experiment with tips. Adding longer tips will help quiet it down a little aswell.

Hey, any updates on how the 30x6 magnaflow helped with the sound? I just got headers, a high flow cat, and parts to do a custom SRI and I was thinking about getting the 3 inch BRM catback, but I don't want a super lound obnoxious sound.

It definitely helped, I think a lot of the problem was that I put a custommaxima y pipe on the car and only put the header on the front bank and left the rear bank stock. Just put the exhaust on my new 02 6spd with gutted cats and it sounds really good. Not to loud at all
