Draining Sound Concern

Hey guys,

I looked around, but couldn't find any people with noises other than timing chain knocks. So, I have noticed this sort of draining sound. It's so subtle, but it's constant. Doesn't rise, doesn't seize. I really have to focus on it to hear it when I start the car. From a cold start, I have to let the idle go down before I'm able to even hear it. I made a video though - and it's immediately apparent in the video.

I thought maybe it could be air in the coolant, but I just can't tell. The car runs great. Never does anything else weird. This could have been going on forever. Perhaps I just noticed it one day and never thought about it again. I noticed it before I added the whole NWP package. I did have my radiator replaced and a coolant flush/swap around March, and I can't recall noticing it before then - but I certainly didn't notice it soon after. Not that I can remember anyways. Also, it doesn't seem to scale with revs.

To break it down: the sound resonates on the passengers side. When I open the hood, it seems to be coming from the front of the motor (passenger side), where the belts are, or from the back in the passenger's corner. It's pretty hard to hear from the engine bay though. Again, you really have to listen for it. It's much easier to hear inside.

This is a VQ35 in an 02 Max. Now has 133k on it.
I might just be paranoid. Any thoughts?

The only thing that I can hear is an exhaust rumble. If you had gutted/eliminated your pre-cats, you would have that. But may be you have an exhaust leak. The flex section of the y-pipe before the main cat could be leaking.

I have a 3" test pipe and cat back. You can definitely hear the exhaust in the car, but it's the other sound. It's like a metal draining noise. It doesn't scale with acceleration either.

edit
I do still have my precats and stock y-pipe

You mean droning?

Haha, nooo, it's not the droning. It's the sound a couple notes down. Sounds like a sort of rattling. I did notice that it may kind of get louder when I rev the car, but you can't hear it at all when the motor gets loud, even in the engine bay.

The best thing I can compare it to is the sound of water dripping down a gutter.

some times unless your there it's hard to notice on camera/recordings. dealt with this problem with my 155cc engine. the sound came through on the recording but, every one miss took it for the poor video quality. eventually it was narrowed down once i plugged up the exhaust so the other noises could be heard better.

I figured. The sound quality is great. There are two noises: the exhaust drone I'm familiar with, and the mystery noise that I'm trying to place.
