Instrument Panel... dead
3 months ago my instrument panel died on a hot day, but then it came back. Two days ago it finally died for good, I checked fuses and started and restarted it many times. I did some research and there was much talk about this common problem. But when I switched it out for another cluster it worked! The wiring probably went bad, the only sh!tty thing is that my car just gained 100K on the odometer at 280k, it was at 180k. Is there anything I could do to get this fixed?

The mileage is stored in an integrated circuit, commonly called a chip. This chip can be unsoldered from your old cluster and put on the replacement cluster. The person who does this needs to be an accomplished solderer. Read this thread about this.

Note that there are different clusters used by Nissan so the location of the chip varies. There are also 2 different, non-interchangable types of chips, but I don't think that is an issue for the 2000 and 2001 models.
Another way is to visit a dealer or a speedometer repair shop. They can do it, but you could meet some resistance on this because changing the odometer reading is illegal. It is allowed because of legitimate repairs, but you will have to convince them of this.
