Berk Tech Intakes are in!

I got my first shipment of intakes in today! They look awesome, I must say that I'm extremely pleased with the quality. I'm really glad now that I really took care in designing everything. The MAF adaptor is a cast mold (VERY expensive to do BTW) so there are no welds to crack down the line. The mounting plate is precision laser cut (no sharp edges though). Here are the kit's details:

Berk Technology Quicktake

-K&N Filter
-Polished 6061 Aluminum MAF adaptor
-Polished 304 Stainless steel mounting plate
-Necessary bolts and zip ties
-Illustrated instructions

As you all know, I'm letting the first batch go for $39.95 as an introductory offer. Website will be up later this week. In the mean time email me at cobymoby@mindspring.com

And this is only the begining......... Bryan

I thought about that and was going to add one but in the end I thought it was not neccessary. Although the sensor is no longer actually "in" the path of the charge air (as in inside the system) it is still doing it's job of monitoring "outside" air temp. The underhood intakes would only be monitoring air that is being sucked in within the engine bay and would perhaps "trick" the sensor into thinking it is always a few degrees hotter that day.

Then again, it could mean squat.

k&n

Is that the same K&N as on the PRCAI?

That is a great price! I just replaces my CAI filter and it cost me $40 just for the filter (with tax). Hell, the regular drop in cost about the same amount.

Yeah, if I figure in all of the small costs I'm probably losing a few bucks on this. But this price will not last for long for sure though.

Oh, and I think Place uses the same filter.

This might be a stupid question, but would you be willing to just sell the MAF adapter with the brace??? e-mail me at grdmasterg2@yahoo.com

EDIT: Forgot to ask, is the adapter a 3" opening???

yes it will if u bend the bbracket to fit!!! same as the stillen bracket so yes it will fit just takes some fabrication!!! the motor mounts are different and the 2k2 motor mount gets in the way of the bracket so u have to bend it over the mount not too hard and doesnt look to good but who can see the bracket! still sounds like and intake!!! good luck!

will

I should have mentioned that. If anyone wants to come down to Irvine, (Southern California area) and pick one up that's fine with me. Ludacris, email me with your phone number and I'll give you a call.

read my explanation of what I have to say about the air temp issue.

It'll put a smile on your face by the end of it.
The first rule of debate is "We agree to disagree." Leaving that air temp sensor dangling is a bad idea and is just ghetto in the first place. On the 5th gen, the sensor is before the filter. That scoop thing that holds the sensor in place, places it right in the path of plenty of free flowing fresh outside air. Hence, the sensor will work in exactly the way Nissan designed it to. Just like your reasoning about why people shouldn't leave that sensor dangling, is why I believe it should not be placed directly "inside" the intake path. When that sensor is "in" the intake, it is not getting readings from the outside air temp, but actually getting underhood air temp, which should be "pretty close" to outside air in most cases. However, I do think that it is a better idea to leave it in the outside air scoop. IMHO, I don't think that the placement of temp sensor behind the MAF and and filter is a good idea. It kind of is like a backwards design.

Sorry so long. Let's get some other people's input.

Guys, the intake air temperature probe is not used for any meaningful purpose on the Maxima. It is simply there to provide an additional data point to the engine computer for diagnostic purposes. It is not responsible for altering ANY of the engine tuning parameters (fuel flow, timing, etc). Our MAF sensor is a MASS airflow unit thus it is the only data input the ECU needs to determine fuel flows. The ignition timing is static and does not change based on atmospheric variables (like intake temperature).

Tie wrap the probe off inside the engine bay, drill a hole in the MAF-to-throttle body pipe,...hell stick it in a slab of butter, it MAKES NO DIFFERENCE to the engine.

i was just thinking about buying an intake, and now i see this thread along with the frankencar thread.

i have no other performance mods besides a RSB/FSTB. which intake would be better for me? by better i mean primarily not losing any low end and gaining in the high end. to me not losing any low end is a priority over the high end gain.

As far as performance goes they are pretty much identical. However, my intakes are being offered at an introductory price of $39.95.

Dude, I want everyone to know that I wouldn't put out crap like that, I'll leave that to Matrix and APC. I've realized that if you want to make any sort of name, quality MUST come first. I mean for instance air filters, I use K&N only. I wanted to use the Taiwanesse air filters to lower cost because KN cost SEVERAL times more (yes, multiples of 100% more) but in the end I decided to go with the best. I'm selling these at a slight loss right now to get my name out there to you .org people. I am fully confident that once people get these and see the quality of my parts first hand, I will have no problems in gaining trust from this community in the future.

PS- Thanks yo-its-ok!
