In case you didn't hear

I am wondering if I should unplug my airbag until the recall notice comes out and it gets fixed. Scary stuff.

Didn't recognize either of my Maxima's either... probably a little flooded?
I guess if you are optimistic the airbags save so instead of dying you suffer the recovery process.
The pessimistic view, the airbag shrapnel saves you by killing you on the spot
One threshold used by airbag designers is "must deploy," which includes a situation such as an impact into a rigid wall at 10-12 mph if occupants are unbelted. The "must deploy" threshold is slightly higher — about 16 mph — for belted occupants because the belts alone are likely to provide adequate protection up to these moderate speeds.

Who drives 16 mph on a normal drive? In Canada most roads are 50 km/h (30 mph)... Maybe that may drop since you would try to brake but hitting a wall, pole etc at 30 mph would cause SERIOUS damage.

I got one for my 01 Maxima and my 02 Maxima. Take it to your local dealer and they will replace it for you. I don't think it is so dangerous that you need to unplug your air bags, but it is your call.

Yeah, but what are the deployment criteria? Between 20-50mph? So anything above or below, they shouldn't deploy.
I just had a woman pull out in front if me and my airbags didn't deploy. Probably hit about
20mph once I slowed.

. Wtf? Were you going slow like Chris?
Put my VIN in http://www.nissanusa.com/recalls-vin#/ and it says "There are no open recalls or campaigns associated with this vehicle." I had that airbag recall that was late last year early this year done early this year, now is this a another one that includes both front airbags or the passenger side one only still and just re enforcing its seriousness?
