Mass air flow ground?

Hey guys I need some help.. I read the mass air flow ground can go bad causing the sensor to fail. I was on the highway today, gave the car some juice, and it blew my mass airflow sensor. I was wondering if anyone knows where the ground that corrodes is located. I want to make sure I didn't have a voltage spike that caused it to blow. I'm willing to take the sensor apart.

I don't want to floor it again and have it blow the new sensor..

Had this problem on my old car. Voltage reg in alternator was bad..

Thank you. Got an eBay mass airflow sensor coming.. Hope it works.

Will check grounds. Engine is new.. They should be food.

New maf harness I think is next..

I don't want to blow it if I hit the pedal

Looks like it needs to be cut and removed from an existing car. Yeah not doing that. Not rewiring it all.. ouch. Hopefully the new maf doesn't blow at high rpm

Aftermarket MAF shouldn't be used.
OEM only.

you want all of that stuff to be OEM. OEMs go out of their way to make sure aftermarket stuff doesn't work correctly sometimes. so OEM is a safer bet.

Will be going oem if cheap one doesn't work. Thanks for the heads up.

I have the old maf. Will going to am600 require a reflash. Some say no.

Will my car require a reflash if I install this: 22680-AM600
It says it's for maximas made after 12/2001

Mine was made 10/2001...

Does this truly matter?

After 12/2001, sounds like 2002+ so the 3.5L models (gen 5.5) & it'll have that extra IAT sensor wire thingy.

You need maf for the I30 or 2000-2001 Nissan Maxima

This shall be my 800th post, I've chosen this thread...yup

That's it..

Lolz just kidding..

OP ^^^ you need to go buy an OEM 2001 MAF from the dealer, it shouldn't cost more than $100. No reflash needed, I'm using the 01 MAF in my 2000.

You should never have to replace or mess with the MAF harness, those things usually never go bad unless you **** it up somehow..

eBay MAF = listen to what Fakie said, it's no good, OEM only

There is no MAF ground, at least not on the outside, to adjust. I would advise against messing with the MAF circuit board...The issue you describe doesn't exist, and flooring the car doesn't blow a MAF due to voltage like you said...You likely have a crappy MAF that made the car go limp a bit when you floored it...

You're welcome

George, I am looking to buy the 22680-2Y001 (2001 maxima?) and solder the piece. (my production date is 10/01)

Called Nissan, gave my VIN and they said I need the: 22680-6N201

Do you know where i can get the CORRECT transistor? I have one from an aftermarket MAF, but it is half the size of the OEM one..

Thanks for all that you do,

Adam

22680-2Y001 is $100

Thats correct, 01 Maf is 100 bucks.

Here is the link you need:
https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...-pictures.html

Use the thermistor from the MAF you have now you do have a MAF in ur car now, right?

its a simple thermistor even on a bad MAF they dont go bad. Swap it over to 2001 Maf and done.

Its a Thermistor from an aftermarket MAF :'(

I dont want to risk using it because its half the size of OEM. Can't be good.

Anyone want to sell a OEM MAF cheap? Broke or not.. I need it bad.

Edit: GOOD info

Just a bump for everyone's info - almost 3 years later and the thermistor I ordered and installed in this thread is still working perfectly. If anyone else has this issue, try the AL03006-1576-101-G1.
