Koni Sport Shocks

Removed worn Illuminas and installed Koni (yellows) Sport Shocks utilizing Progress Sport Springs from prior setup....These shocks/strut inserts require quite a bit of work to install....As with most German designed hardware they have alot small pieces with special purposes.....The fronts require you to utilize OEM struts for the body and require the strut to be cut to a pre-determined dimension. The lower bottom will have to be drilled to allow the insert retaining bolt an access hole to screw into the insert...The piston's threaded end has to be ground down to the "D" shape of the strut mount through bore hole.... I find the ride to be awesome as always with the Progress Technology Sport Springs. I adjusted the front struts to 360* degress and the rears to 180* degress of firmness!!! I wish they were easier to install but the pistons seem to be larger than OEM for the F/R's...and they're less expensive than the Illuminas and hpefully more durable even though I got about 100K out of my Illuminas!

How do the settings work on the konis?? The 180 and 360 what is that compared to 1-5 on illuminas?? Do you have to raise the car on both front and rear to adjust??

The front and rear adjust differently. The rears have to be removed from the vehicle....here's a video:

The struts have the adjustment **** and they can be adjusted a total of 720*(degrees) of rotation....the instructions refer to 180* adjustments even though they could be smaller....

(F/R) 3/4....then in the last 5k-10K 5/5....I was really happy with their durability and quality.... and ease of installation and adjustment....with the Koni's the rears have to be removed from the car to adjust and that really sucks!

I've contemplated getting the Koni's for quite some time. The problem is, I don't have my OEM struts anymore to mount the front inserts. I suppose the best option would be to source out someones old OEM struts without paying some crazy price.

I have illuminas now, so how would you compare the ride to the illuminas?

Just as good especially with the Progress Sport Springs....I dailed the fronts in half way (360*) so I'm in the middle.... the rears are set to only 180*,...I might removed them and set them to 360* as well....but at 180* it was Cadillac smooth so I firmed it up another 180* up front and I liked the way it rode...

Well I'll probably adjust the rears to 360* just to see how they ride...With my Illuminas I usually ran the Fronts @ #3 and the rears @ #4....Right now the front is firmer than the rear so I'll set them equally to see how it rides and report back to yall! Someone wanted my Illuminas indictors and I was willing to sell them for $10 -$20 since you can't buy them....I'm I wrong for that?

A Hacksaw or chopsaw/diegrinder/3" sanding pads/drill w/bits is all that's needed....If you want I can get a set of Front struts for the 5th Gen from the boneyard and prep them and build them for you!!!
