Another thread about a flashing Airbag light (Codes Posted)

So ever since my I bought my Max over two years ago. my airbag light has been flashing. I've used the reset to erase the codes every time it comes on. But now I'm getting annoyed and would like to figure out what's wrong with it. Sometimes I get one code and sometimes another. Here they are:

#1 - Long Blink, Long Blink, Long blink (And it just continues like that forever)

#2 - Long Blink, Fast Blink, Long Blink, Fast Blink (And continues)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what these codes are and what they mean and what I need to do to fix them.

Thanks!

There is a recall for the air bag. Call the dealer and see if it was done on your car. They will need to know the VIN number so have it handy.

The recall is not because of the light flashing, it is because of a defective airbag. However, after the recall was performed on cars, the cars then started to have flashing air bag light problems. Either way, it should be covered.

Recall info:

Report Receipt Date: APR 12, 2013
NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V136000
Component(s): AIR BAGS

Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

SUMMARY:
Nissan is recalling certain model year 2001-2003 Maxima and Pathfinder; model year 2001 Infiniti I30; model year 2002-2003 Infiniti I35 and Infiniti QX4; model year 2003 Infiniti FX35 and FX45; and model year 2002-2003 Sentra vehicles to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag.

CONSEQUENCE:
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants.
REMEDY:

Owners of all vehicles on which a defective air bag may have been installed either as original equipment, or as a replacement, will be notified. Dealers will inspect vehicles, and where a defective air bag inflator is identified, the inflator will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began during August 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.
NOTES:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Below is from a document the government has associated with the recall:

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V136000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED THREE TIMES AFTER THE RECALL SERVICE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE RECALL DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
