Headroom

Hi,

I am goingto buy a new maxima in a few months, so have gone into a number of dealershipe to sit in the car and see how I liek it. The problem is that Im 6'5 and I dont seem to fit in the max in a seating position that I like. The problem is that all the ones I have sat in in a showroom always have a sunroof. While Im sure its a nice addition, Im not so sre I want one of them. Id liek to know how much headroom the sunroof takes away, as it is not stated.
I know the following: the altima is listed as 40.8 and the max with 40.5 according to nissan. I fit well with respect to headroom in the altima(cant remember if it had a sunroof) but not so well in the max. Also, I fit very well, better then either nissan in a new 02 VW pasaat, which is listed at 39.7 in. I do not fit into an accord w/sunroof very well either, but it is because of the entry handle on the drivers side smacking my head, not the headliner. I think it is because of the height of the seats in the max? Not sure though... I know my head hits on the left top side, it rubs the headliner constantly, and I dont like to have the seat angled too far back. Thats why Im assuming that it is due to the sunroof, but arent sure.
Did anyone else experience similar problems when muying a max? fit in one but not the other? its verty comfortable and I liek the car a lot other then the fact that I dont fit in it as well. The more americanized or germanic cars(VW, Altima) seem to fit me better...
Any info most appreciated, of course Ill get to the bottom of it all when I go and test drive both varieties in a number of months, but I am looking now and are pretty set on the max, except for this one issue which is really on my mind(no pun intended)
Thanks very much,

JMH

I am 6'4" and I fit into my Maxima easily (it has a sun roof).
Many years ago I bought a 90 Nissan Stanza. With that car I could not get a sun roof. Without the sun roof I fit okay. I believe thst the sun roof takes out between 1 and 2 inches of headroom. Just a guess. Open the inside cover and see if you hit your head. That might give you a rough idea. Just an idea ...

STANZA baby representing, YO!

had a 92 stanza 5 speed manual with 200,000 miles on it. Died on me the other day when the gears in the transmission popped off half way up the hill to my house
