Honest opinion of value
I've decided it's time to replace my car. I usually sell my cars myself instead of trading them in. I've looked at the usual sites like KBB, Edmunds, and Nada. I'm curious what you all think my car is worth. I have an 03 Maxima Titanium edition. 166,000 miles. The mods are in my sig. The car has brand new tires. The major issue the car has is that the transmission slips/flares from 1-2 and 2-3 most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't, but that's rare. I also have an on/off check engine light for the evap canister and some minor rust. I keep up with maintenance, and the car is not neglected. I was thinking in the ballpark of $1,900. What do you guys think? If this is not a proper topic to start, then mods feel free to delete my post.

I have an 03 titanium edition with 170k miles. I'm selling mine this year as well. Where i live, i think i can get between $2,500-$2,000 easily. Body is excellent and there are only a few minor mechanical issues......that i know of. Are you still in Wisconsin? What's the rating of your body on a 1-10 scale?

I'm still in Wisconsin. Considering the age I would rate the body at 7 where 10 would be rust free and perfect paint. The blemishes on my car are hard to see, and the rust is really nothing crazy. The worst rust on my car is the bottom lip of the trunk. The car doesn't have any dents what so ever.

I think you can get $2000. Maximas sell like hotcakes down here in the south. I see them frequently listed for around $5k and i believe they are selling for those prices too. Used cars prices are so inflated right now. Maximas are frequently listed above blue book and i think its because people see the value in them. If your car is in good shape and the body is mostly blemish free, i think it would be a commodity in Wisconsin specifically because of the weather. It would be a good snow car for someone. If they sell fast down here, i'm sure someone wouldn't mind paying $2000 to have a dependable car for the snow up there. The mods probably wont add much value to a new owner but those new tires will. I would probably aim at a higher selling price if i were you.

Mine has thrown the code before and I found a solution online that said you tap it a couple times and reset the code. Did this and mine hasn't thrown the code since. What do you define as "minor" rust? Depending on it's locations it can be extremely hazardous or negligible. And have you had the trans checked?

I picked up my maxima 2 years ago with around 175,000 miles and it was a bit over $5,000 I have 204,000 now. a guy at my job has a 95 that he bought new and only major repair he said he had done was the water pump. VQ's are pretty good motors. so far I broke down once sue to a failed throw out bearing at a little over 176,000, 3 weeks after I got it....
