2003 Maxima Coolant Leak

I have been searching for a similar problem to the one I am currently experiecing, but have not been able to find the exact same circumstance. I have read that people commonly have coolant leaking by the oil pan, most commonly meain the water pump seals are bad.

I am finding my leak to be on the other side of the cross member from the oil pan (between the cross member and tranny). I am unable to track the leak very far because it is very congested by there. The coolant is hitting the drive shaft and is dripping from thereto the cross member, and tranny.

I have attached a picture, taken from in front of the driver wheel.

Is your radiator leaking?
hose leaking?
water pump seal?
radiator cap?

I was unable to find any leaks in the radiator, cap or the hoses. I will inspect the water pump better tonight but upon initial observation it did not appear to be leaking.

Check the hard lines going to the block over by the intake. Maybe the gasket has failed.

Hooked up a pressure tester and found the leak. The water outlet gasket was leaking coolant.

this is most likely my problem, hard line gasket is leaking , along with or caused by the thermostat.

For me, it was harder than it first appeared. Lots to remove to get to the gaskets, but as with any repair, the first time takes longest.

I put a small dab of rtv on my gaskets since I don't want to do it again. My Permatex ultra blue I bought was not the style I used to use. It was Smurf blue...no kidding. So I have no hidden rtv on that job for sure. It oozed out pretty blue!!! My old was clear or close to it, I believe. Not Smurf BLUE!!

SE PA has some good shops! You shouldnt have any issues finding a good mechanic.

I'd get Nissan Green coolant only when you seal it up!
Its not "long life" so you have to flush radiator once/year.

thanks, it seems 50 50 , there is still that trust issue as with any shop in any area, Its like some shops just follow the book which makes them seem really weak when the book isn't the final solution, i mean there are a lot of types of cars from area to area, so i can imagine shops get a nice array of situations and makes that keeps them experienced...

right now its at a shop... because of necessity , not by choice , its a chain, but surprizingly they said they can do it, i have my fav local mom pop shop, but they are hard to get to now after the rents moved away from there last week.

when you throw mods at a shop, or have a custom car like me, and a shop treats your car normally , its a good shop,

this mom and pop shop i like, i gave them all these mods to do, and no hassles, 6th gen bbk, matt blehmco LTB Stage II, rear spacers, NWP manifold spacers,

another one that was growing on me, i gave them Ultra Racing side lowering bars with no instructions (you tubed a civic install for only reference avail) , and gave them gutted precats !

Surprised because they run a state inspection there!
Ive seen counterfeit stickers sold but not much gets by the officers up there!
Id say you got a better chance of hotting the lotto there than getting away with expired stickers in SE pa.
Heres the coolant I have for the 2001.
