Should I wait?

I just ordered a 2002 SE w/6spd, Navigation, Meridian pkg, and HLSD. I had to order it because apparently there has not been any 6spd w/HLSD yet to hit the US. At least that is what my dealer is saying. They are telling me that they did not start production for the US until late December and the first batches should be arriving in a few weeks. I am in Tampa and the dealer located one in GA exactly like I want except the only thing it is missing is the HLSD. I really think I want the HLSD because when I drove a 6spd SE I really did not like the torque steer. I am hoping this helps.

My question is should I wait 45-60 days and special order the car with HLSD or get the one in GA and have it next week? How important is the Limited Slip Differential? I have driven several manual transmission cars but never owned one so I am thinking that the HLSD will be better for me getting a quick launch. What do you guys think?

If it was me

I would wait. I have a 2K1 5-speed and I have torque steer.

I think you should wait cuz if you don't you might regret not getting the HSLD.

I think I agree with you. One part of me don't wait because I could have the car here next week and the other part of me says to wait and get the car exactly how I want so I don't regret it later. I called the dealer back today and ordered it with the HLSD. They told me that I can change my mind at anytime if I wish because they would have no problem selling the car I ordered when it arrives if I do not take delivery of it or choose a different vehicle.

Make sure to get the build date/ship date from your dealer. I have been waiting 8 weeks since ordering mine, and it has been "dropped" from the schedule. Was build January deliever February, is now not scheduled...I think some others have seen delays also. I am on the West coast.

As an AE owner with the VLSD...

I would suggest you wait. I have not had major problems driving with the VLSD and could only imagine how much spin would occur with the 3.5L.

What are the dealers telling you the reasons are and how long did they tell you that you would be waiting?

I ordered back in Nov. My car is now on the boat from Japan. I should have it in about 3 weeks.

I'm in Milwaukee...ordered a 2k2 HLSD on November 23, contracted for February delivery. That's now been pushed back to April...no explanation (that's just the way it is, the dealer told me...but he also claimed that Nissan had been having trouble with the HLSD option, so it may just be a supplier issue or something).

Dealer tells me nothing! They really suck.

I've opened a case with Nissan and they are supposed to get back to me early next week with definitive information on production and delivery dates.

shenard,

Look at it this way:
In six months to a year from now, will you be...

A) Happy with your purchase and not regretting of having it without the HLSD or...
B) ****ed off 'cause you wanted it NOW instead of waiting another 60 days for the HLSD which you wanted in the first place?

I know what my answer would B.

I am starting to get scared after hearing how long others have waited. If I have to wait until April to get my car then I will be ****ed off and screwed because my lease is up on my Jeep on February 24 and I will have no car.
