Timing Chain Question

Timing Chain Question
Probably gonna catch hell for this, but I've searched plenty and didn't come up with anything solid.
Here's whats up I have an 03 maxima 163 on the dash. Friday when I came home from work I park my car and notice a noise. Sounds like a whine come from the pulley area so I figued maybe it was an AC compressor or PS pump. Then I realized that all day I didn't hear any of my typical timing chain rattle. Could this be a sign its time to swap out the timing chain guides and all?
