Just got 'em put on...225 55 17 Yoko YK420's

I was willing to give up some razor sharp cornering and work with a more comfortable, but still fun, higher life tire. Don't know yet about the wet handling, but once I got accustomed to a new feeling in ride and control, I LIKE 'EM!! Less road noise, less harsh bumping on expansion joint and worse road conditions, look good filling up more wheel well, and at $91 a pop, I can live with not autocrossing on the way home! I had to try hard to break them loose in first gear...RE92's had the opposite problem...keeping them FROM breaking loose.

There do not seem to be any clearance issues and they fit a 7" rim just fine!

Thought those who were interested should know there are alternatives out there for those of us who like fun, but don't mind some luxury put back into our flagships.

I put some Yokahama 225/55R16 YK420s on my '01 5sp SE and they are very good. Improved wet traction by alot; can still cut and corner just as good as the OEM tires, just a different feel. Hard to break loose on dry pavement and when they do no squeal. I live in Dallas and here you definitely need some height on you tires as the streets are terrible.

I just looked up the Yoko 420s on the Tire Rack and Yokohama sites...there is no mention of them. Where did you find these? I love Yokos and would certainly consider these. Thanks.

Go to DiscountTire.com, not the discounttiredirect.com. I am not sure if these are state specific, but if you look them up at the site where they direct you to a local store, they will show up in a 'by size' search.

I feel your pain...

Houston roads, in particular those out in the more country area where I live are not very forgiving on a 50 or less series tire.

Thanks for the info...that tread pattern looks identical to my old Yokohama Avid V4s. Those were great tires.
