5 alternators in one year... HELP!

I'm at a loss.

Last April 2014, the OE alternator went out in my Max. Since then:

3 remans from O'Reilly's

1 reman with supposedly the correct OE voltage regulator built in (I guess the remans from O'Reilly's do not)

1 used OE from a junk yard

(all in that order)

The used alternator was just put in this afternoon. If that one goes, I don't know what the next option is. I love my Max ('02 with 6-speed), but I can't keep doing this every few months! My mechanic swears that he has ran electrical tests and nothing gets flagged. New Interstate battery as of last summer (if that matters). Am I missing something??

Thanks in advance for the advice given!
Dan

what are the outputs of the alternators that you have been putting in, maybe have a broken signal wire to the alt causing it not to charge intermittently

quit using remans, we use Napa reman alternators at work and every VQ35 engine vehicle we put one of the reman alternators in comes back in 4-6 months not charging. Altima, Maxima, Murano, you name it. try a new OEM

Thanks for the suggestions. Any links to where I can find some new OEMs?

Not sure on all the them, I recall one of them still outputting, but it wasn't enough and the battery drained. No warnings on the dash. This last one, both the brake and battery lights popped on.

Try this: http://www.courtesyparts.com/kb_sear...1957_1988_1994 ($245). Also, look at RockAuto.com; I plan to buy their Hitachi/TYC ($105).

You apparently have another problem and I'm sure it's wiring issue.... How batteries have you changed out as well? If you have a defective battery that's not able to take a charge then this could be the result...I would first check the CCA capacity of your existing battery and if it test good...record your battery voltage with the car off, then with the car running, then with the car running and loaded (blower on full, headlights on low with foglights, flashers on, all interior light on) then check your altenator output....hope you get at least 13.0 volts...If not disconnect battery and ohm out the battery pos to altenator wire and the ground wire... Make sure you fusible links are good as well please....Good luck.

I bought a autozone alternator 3 years ago and its been working great. I got the one with 125 amp alternator which was remanufactured just like the one you get from the nissan dealers which are remanufactured as well. Plus it had the nissan logo on the alternator which I thought nissan must supply there alternators or something but could be wrong. But long story short its been working fine since 2012.

Bosch reman's are pretty solid as well haven't heard any problems from them & we put one in our old 95 Maxima and it was fine for the time we had it and my buddy's i30 is still running like a champ after 2 years

I bought one, then had it replaced, then purchased a REMAN from Bennett Auto--lifetime warranty. *btw, its the same one that is sold by Rock Parts, but it was $100 cheaper.

So far so good, its a little noisy, but it works (so far---knock on wood).

AND if it breaks, i will take it back to Bennett and they will replace it. Lifetime---so what more can i ask of a REMAN ?
