Transmission Swap, HELP!

The shop I took it said the parts that are needed for my transmission if I wanted to rebuild are on back order. 5 Speed Manual 2000

He said it would be cheaper to do a transmission swap but also the 5 SPEED transmission for the 2000 is hard to come by he said so hes looking.

What are my options?

Do I have to get that specific tranny box or do you recommend one from another vehicle?

Should I get a 2nd opinion?

How much should a tranny swap run?

Ugh, should have kept my Accord....

$2030 + taxes is what he quoted me for tranny and labor.

I am, how you say? Screwed? in the ****!!!! UGHGHGHGHGH

Bought maxima for $3600, I might as well got a 5.5 gen or another car!!! I dont even know if this will fix it all the way.

with my luck I am going to do tranny swap and then the engine is going to blow.

What should I do boys? Invest tranny swap in a car that I have no idea how reliable will be or cut my losses and sell it for $1000?

Well, in what state is everything else in the vehicle? How does your motor run? How many miles? Any rust? If so, is it really bad? What's the state of everything else?

If this vehicle is just a point A to point B ride, and you already have more problems then just the transmission, then I don't think there's any point in keeping it if you aren't really driven to fix it or keep it.

I do know that for the 3.5, people like to swap the 6spd Sentra transmission into them from a specific year for auto-manual swaps, but that requires you swap internals into the old bellhouse, and I'm sure it will cost even more to adapt, but it's another option to look into. Compatible transmissions from newer cars are usually half the cost with half the miles.
