01 maxima AC not blowing cold

Today I evac my AC system I rented the machine from autozone. After it was finishing I added 2 12oz cans of freon. While putting it the compressor engaged and the air wasn't getting cold at all even after adding both cans. The air was blow cold jus before I evac the system. The reason why I evac the system is because I had changed the compressor 2 months ago and I didn't evac it at that time so the air wasn't as cold.

You should have just purged the lines. You don't have to vac it to make it ice cold.

You need gauges.

There's no way to know. You need to be able to see the pressure of the high and low sides.

Is the compressor even kicking on?

AC work should only be attempted if you actually know what you're doing. If you evacuated the system (properly that is), you need to add back the EXACT amount of refrigerant spec'd for the system using a scale. Too much refrig. is just as bad as too little. You may have a leak somewhere that UV dye can find. Is the compressor OEM?

Like Child uv korn said, you need gauges.

I ended up just changing the expansion valve and that was the problem why the AC wasn't blowing cold.

This my dad does this on the side and more often then, it needs evacuated, or there is leak or it's OVER or undercharged. that's another thing it can be overcharged.

while i'm here whats up the 60F limit on the maxima? i wonder if it's possible to make it colder? (doub it) :P i heard the chrysler imperials could put frost on the vents back in the day. lol

EDIT: is the expansion chamber a common maintenance item?

I started replacing least expensive items. Schrader valves then o-rings. Did the expansion valve, temp was blowing 70F and now blows 45F after refilling R134.

everyone's statement is correct, that whenever you replace the compressor, always recommend to replace your drier and expansion valve. Why? because you don't know why or how did the a/c compressor quit working, was it due to metal shards inside blew? or was it lack of lubrication from not using your a/c at all, then end up dry run then seized the compressor? so those are good reason to replace the drier, that act like a filter, that remove debris and moisture. The expansion valve, or like some cars have orifice tube instead, that regulate the temp of the refrigerant. So good input guys. I work at a part stores, and customers do not have a slightest idea how an a/c work you guys on the other hand have done your homework and very well informed. Keep up the great input for our fellow org.

I thought Geez you know that's going to be traded in then a bunch of warranty work!

24 oz (2 12 oz cans) of refrigerant might be too much. The system takes between 21 and 24 oz, so try removing maybe 2 oz.
