Maybe a solution for rough idle, bad acceleration
Maybe a solution for rough idle, bad acceleration
So a few months back my SEL came on and the code read to be random cylinder misfire or P0300 and my car started to bog when I stepped on the gas and idle was really rough and acceleration was really inconsistent. Like it would be extremely rough at low RPMs and then eventually become smoother in higher RPMs, then repeat after shifting. After changing spark plugs and cleaning the cylinders I had no luck. One day I decided to just leave the car on and pull off and put back on each of the coil packs one by one until one of them, when pulled out, did not affect the idle. I then went to O'Reilly's and picked up an OEM replacement coilpack and replaced that one. After the install and starting the car back up again my car is now running nice and smooth. I hope this wasn't too confusing for anyone who is really looking to see what's wrong with their max.

Hey thanks for posting! My '02 GLE is having similar issues. No error codes though. It will intermittently stutter at idle to getting into 1st as if it's not getting a steady stream of gas. After that it's gone. Do you have a link to the coilpack you used?

Just wanted to follow up in case anyone was having the same issues. In my case, I went on vacation and let my shop have at it for a week. They finally determined that it was coil pack 3 and 5 that was replaced and it's been running very well since. Thanks for all who tried to help out!
