Question: Outside Termometer Temps ?

Hey Buds,

I was wondering "How accurate" is the outside Temperature Thermometer ?

I see numbers on mine showing 96 degrees out...and was told that it is not accurate. HOWEVER, WHEN i double check the figures on Wunderground and Weather Bug, it seems to be pretty close.

What's your opinion ? ? ?

You can find where that weather station is and park your car next to the sensor maybe it's on the roof. see if it's accurate. being parked in the cool shade on your lawn or on a blacktop parking lot will effect temps by a decent amount.

It's always accurate to me. The exception is if you're getting baked on pavement/asphalt, but that's not the thermometers fault.

The temperature sensor is attached to the lower front right corner of the a/c condenser core. If I park on hot concrete, the temperature is too high until I drive the car for a bit. Then it seems to be accurate.

Dennis...hope all is well where you are!

Man...wouldn't that give off a Temp that is way hotter than outside?
I Mean its right next to the condenser...which is next to the Radiator ? ? ?

Like Child_uv_KoRn said, if you are moving, airflow is pushing all the heat from the condenser/radiator to the rear of the car, away from the sensor. The sensor does not respond that quickly to temperature changes, so you can stop for a red light and not see any fluctuation in the reading.
