Solid SES light day after filling up
Solid SES light day after filling up
So I filled up gas in my I35 last night (premium 93) and this morning, the SES light came on. Pretty sure I tightened the gas cap past 3 clicks. The light's solid and the car's running fine. I re-tightened the gas cap this morning and hope this will fix the issue after a few drive cycles. This is why I'm holding off on getting codes read at Autozone. Manual says a solid SES light is most likely the gas cap and if it blinks, there is a misfire/more serious issue.
What's the code?
Off the top of my head
- gas cap
- fuel filler neck
- evap canister and that valve thing
Unrelated (??)
If the gas cap opens and you don't hear the pressure difference, pop noise, your fuel filler neck has to get replaced

The fact that the light came on the morning after you filled your tank could very possibly be coincidence. The manual is misleading because there are hundreds of other reasons why the SES light would come on. Read the codes and know what you're dealing with.
