Misfire advice

One of my coils has gone bad and I am debating the correct way to go forward.
My car will not pass the E test in 4 months nor do I want spend a ton of money to fix other issues.

So the question is......

Can I, with a 2001 maxima GLE shut off the piston in question and ride it out for the next 4 months on 5 cylinders?

The car is going to junk/part heaven. I will not be selling it to another driver.

I do not have the code handy on which piston it is. Perhaps you can shut off the misfire unless its piston number (you can not do that)

You cannot "shut off" a cylinder and its monitoring. Go to an auto parts store and ask them to read the check engine light codes. It is a free service the stores do. Then go to the junk yard and get a coil there for cheap.

Swipe a coil from the junkyard or if you're as nuts as you sound, then just unplug the injector for that cylinder.

In 60 mins or less I bet I can have it ready to pass emissions lol

Nothing in that post makes sense.

I have rusting out issues near the trunk and although the 3 cats are fine, the exhaust system needs a complete replace. I have engine check errors and the shop said 4 k to fix everything.....
Car runs fine except for the misfire.

Another problem that I did not even notice was rear driver side brake has seized.
The wheel turns and I have no pulling...... it is what it is.

What should I do with this one wheel? Leave it? fix it?

Well, if it's seized, not much you can do, except replace the faulty part, caliper or brake hose. There is another way, but unsafe.

Rather than scraping the car, pull the codes to see what needs to be done. The guys on here are great, so they can respond as to the problem/cost to repair.

It's common for the rears to seize and of course is an easy replacement. This is a dirt cheap fix from the junkyard. Everything is there. We're talking like, what, less than 150 in parts? I would pull the coil apart and swipe it LOL.

Find a new "mechanic." For 4k, I will buy you a 5.5 gen and swap in a 07+ altima motor LOL

Are you going to enlighten the peanut gallery on what the 60 minute fix is to pass the e test?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Pull the codes and we'll see how easy the fix.

His problem seems to be the misfire CEL, which will go away when the coilpack is replaced.

If it were emissions related, there's only so many things. Usually, it's a precat, so that's easily solved with defoulers or sim. The evap canister could be cracked or a bad hose (get under the car and look). A less common problem is a bad purge valve or solenoid. And a far flung option is a leaky gas cap.
