Help with hanging part on 2000 Nissan Maxima

Really appreciate if anyone point to what this part is, and if its normal to have this part hanging. I don't recall see this part hanging before. Something happened just recently I believe.

Isn't that the valve thingy on the evap system? Looks like it broke off of the canister.

Yes, that is the air filter for the evap canister. It should be bolted onto the L-bracket just above where it is hanging.

Can't tell from the photo if it is broken or if the the bolt just loosened and fell off.
