I would appreciate if anyone can point to what the part in picture is called, and how its effecting the overall car performance.

Gonna guess it's the air box connection. There should be a collar that slides
over the front section so outside air is drawn in, rather then hot air from the
engine compartment.

I agree it looks like the air box connection. I would think it is not really going to hurt you because the ducting in the front of the car is just directing air in that direction. I would just try and put it back together the air intake part on the bottom of the left side is only held on by a pair of screws. That should make it visible as to what is open after it.

In the picture on the left, yes those should be connection. I had the same issue on my maxima and used a silicone coupler with clamps to keep it connected tight.

On the picture on the right that is part of the intake. You are missing a downtube connector to that white airbox. It really isn't a necessary part of the car as it is just more or less a sound dampener (I think). I actually blocked mine off and removed the white box on the bottom. It is kind of a pain in the butt to remove. Either way it doesn't affect your performance. You may want to find a cap for the open port on the bottom of your "air ram" box where that connection oririginally connected. I capped mine...I used some sort of silicone end cap with a clamp.

i used a torn up shirt and duct tape to a make a "seal" so they fit tighter. last i checked it's doing it's job. if any thing it's more air flow but, water and crap aren't so good for it so opted to "shim" the connection/coupling.
