Back in a Max

Haven't been behind the wheel of a maxima in years, but when I saw this baby I knew it was something special and had to get her. 2003 Maxima SE, with HLSD, titanium wheels, heated seats and heated steering wheel. 72k miles when purchased. The only thing I'm missing is the OEM nav unit. It's not the fastest or most glamorous ride, but definitely somewhat of a rare bird. Goes to show there's still some clean examples of this car left.

Parked next to my SE-R

Yeah I see that heated wheel switch in the last pic. What's the switch to the left of it? I have a heated wheel too, but always wondered what the other one was for. As I've come to realize, it's really hard to beat a Maxima like this without spending a lot and even then you're usually making some concessions. I use to want an Altima SE-R because they look sharp, and I always assumed were quicker than the Maxima but it doesn't seem to be the case they're at best evenly matched and much more pricey compared to a similar Max.

I remember when I got my Max a few years ago I was happy to have the simple cloth seats. Many static shocks later, oh how I wish I had leather again...nice ride!

That's the auto seat feature. If you have a 6-Speed it's essentially useless lol

Auto seat? The only thing that comes to mind is what I've seen on BMWs where the bolstering automatically moves when you take a corner or something to keep you from sliding but that seems like something you wouldn't see on any Nissan. Does it just enable/disable the seat remembering its previous position based on the remote fob like to tie in with the memory presets?

Honestly, my SE-R feels a little faster right now. Probably because I had it tuned up over the summer. I'd say a fresh set of plugs on the max and it will be right with the Altima.

It has two memory buttons and it automatically slides back when you shut the car off and slides up when you start the car (so it's easier to get in/out).

Ah ok, so like a lot of Lexus/Cadillac/etc. cars have which they usually pair with an electronic preset steering wheel. Hated that feature when I had to drive my grandma's Cadillac, automatically jammed my legs into the dash and then shoved the steering wheel into my chest...did not know Maximas could have the auto seat thing though. I'm on the short side, but I've never had a problem getting out of the Max.

Clean ride man. I love my heated steering wheel. Rare to see a car with that many miles.

The car seems to be running solid. I don't see the need to gut the cats as of yet

It's more of preventative maintenance, those cats will inevtiably clog up and destroy your engine.

You found the holy grail right there. That's exactly how most of us would spec out a stock one.

You're actually far better off without the nav. The average smart phone is way better than any older nav system.

Thanks, I just thought the one's with the OEM nav were even rarer. I actually plan on leaving it completely stock.
