Blue Long Life Antifreeze

I'm thinking of using this instead of the green oem. Does anyone know how long will this coolant last till another change?

Also, I found a 50/50 mix on amazon. What should be the procedure when flushing the system? Since about 4 quarts of water will still be in the engine when doing the flush. Or does anyone know where to find the non diluted blue coolant? TY

If you're doing a flush, you'll need full strength coolant otherwise you won't get a proper 50/50 mixture in the end. Nissan coolant is only sold as 50/50 which sucks.

Pep Boys recently started stocking full strength Asian-spec coolant made by Rechochem. It's blue like Nissan LL and can go 5 yrs/150K miles. I wish that stuff was around when I changed my rad. Make sure to only use distilled water.

I have only seen the blue antifreeze on late model Hondas, but on Nissan? unless they are doing them on late models. I know our 5 gen are like yellowish green color, I bought the Zeryx from Napa which are for Asian vehicles for the early 2000's

Napa has the Zerex but only pre-dilutted. They do have one thats not diluted but its Dexcool orange. I hope you don't have that in your car. Dexcool orange is bad for our engines.

I've uses the Peak one once w/o issues, as well as Prestone, but I recently went back to OEM and mixed it myself. The normal green coolant should be good enough. I used to drain and refill my rad once a year so the system always has fresh coolant, but scaled it back to every other year now. There's a drain plug on the bottom of the rad, and try to buy the spill-free funnel made by Lisle when refilling and burping air out to make the job no-mess.

They do sell the blue in a concentrated version 999MP-L255QTP, 1 quart bottle. It's meant to replace 20% of the factory 50/50 for colder climates. It lowers the freezing point from -34°f to -62°f. While not full strength it will help to get a better ratio if you have too much water.

To do a complete flush would cost you $95 just for the coolant. Whoa

Pepboys have the green concentrate coolant with No silicate, amine, and borate. Sounds good to me.

$21.99

Seems pointless when Prestone extended life is free of silicate, phosphate, borate and nitrate (and universally compatible).

I had a look at the new Prestone coolant at Walmart but the label doesn't say anything about silicate, phosphate or borate free. Not even on their site.

OEM Green
- no silicates and amines: protects water pump seals
- no borate: protects aluminum corrosion and pitting

Prestone (and most other major brands) AF2000 is an OAT coolant (2-EHA formula). It's basically dex and since it's OAT, it's NAP free.
If it's an extended life coolant (green, yellow or orange), then it's the same crap.

It doesn't matter anyway. If you're mixing with distilled water, then there's no chance of precipitates.
We don't have soft HGs or the ones coated with plastic, so coolant doesn't really matter as long as it's not in there so long that it becomes acidic.

If you have money to burn, then you can buy Zerex (HOAT).

I stick by my comment in another thread. Coolant is coolant.

Not true. I just bought a gallon of Nissan 100% coolant. I paid $27.99 (incl. 8.25% tax) here in the Bay area.
