Aftermarket Cam/Crank Sensors?
Aftermarket Cam/Crank Sensors?
Starting a new thread on this since I'm having problems with my Max. I replaced both the Cam/Crank sensors (I bought generic non oem), cleared the codes only to have my car die again. Same symptoms before replacing sensors, car starts bucking and then it just dies. I pulled the code p0035 again. Could these cheap sensors be bad alresdy? I'm scared to drive my car anymore.
Could be bad sensors. Or it could be the harnesses leading to the sensors. Get out your continuity meter and do some checking.
I also like to clean the hell out of the connectors with a generous WD40 bath when I change connectors. Works as a good low-impact solvent and the remaining film keeps moisture out (whod'a thought)

this is what is suspected of early CPS failure, yet I have aftermarket napa ones and it cleared my issue since for 2 years now (didn't have one code though , just car shutting off with no warning while driving 45 mph and then more and more untill it didn't start up)
I have used napa sensors, too.
does anyone know how much the cam pos sensor is at the dealer? I have a friend that just bought a 03 maxima and says he changed both cam sensors with autozone brand and still has issues starting the car.
Yeah thats what i was telling him, that he needed to buy OEM only on those sensors but he didnt listen and now i dont know if he can return the parts with no box lol to get his money back and go with the oem parts from the dealer.
I cleaned the sensor connectors and made sure everything was good and clean. Instead of driving I just let the car run. It may have run for 15 minutes then it died. Tried to start it numerous times and no crank. I'm thinking these generic sensors are no good.
Wait...what? No crank... You mean no fire?
Interesting. That's what the original, bad, cam sensors can do. Maybe someone cleaned them up and returned them haha
