Throttle Body Spacer.. Worth it?

So as the title states, I want those who've installed or have experience with Throttle Body spacers to chime in.

I was contemplating on getting one of these, and once more funds come in I'd get the NWP 75mm Throttle body and Harness alone.

The spacer:

It works as described - well tested and confirmed gains and temp reductions. Yes I've got the and they are one of my favorite mods.

Something to consider: If you get the throttle body, you should really also consider Douglas' (can'tgetright) 4" intake and bell mouth. Course, at that level you will need wideband O2 and an AFC.

If you're really serious, up your game to Douglas' modified LIM and gutted intake and elbow. Good idea to install those parts along with the spacer. You can upgrade to 4" intake and tune later.

At that level you should be looking at headers and 3" exhaust to maximize gains.

I'd pass on that aluminum spacer and put the money towards the TB kit from NWP. You'll need the spacer/adapter from NWP for the 75mm TB anyway.

If you want to reduce intake temps look at the spacer kits from NWP. Even just the two piece kit for the lower manifold reduces the temp of the entire intake and plenum by a lot.

+1 5 piece kit is great. I HATE summer heat soak.

Yep, that 5 piece set is the way to go. Beginning of the last summer without it was bad. Second half of summer with it... awesome.

Alright so if I temporarily dropped the idea of the throttle spacer..

and went with the nwp thermal spacers would this be enough to justify a 3" Test Pipe and Catback?

I've also got jwt sri and +2 timing

A set of headers alone will give you much better gains even bolted right to the stock catback. You could even throw a test pipe in with them.

The stock catback isn't really too bad on these cars. The stock exhaust manifold and pre-cats really suck on the 3.5. The manifold design is horrible and the precats are most likely starting to break down at this point. There's not much point in adding a big system downstream from the heavily restricted manifolds unless you just want the sound.

Seems no matter which road I take I must cross through headers
I'll hold off exhausts for now

Yes the labour for headers is high but the gains are there...

But to gain the benefits of all these mods you need to tune the car

Never ending

Doing headers is not really that big of a deal.

There's no rule about what to do first or how far you have to take it. It's just hard to beat headers for "bang for the buck". If I could only do one power mod it would be headers and a tune.

Here's a pic of the inside of our exhaust manifolds. One of them is so restrictive that it passes three ports through one hole that's about the size of a single port. The precats bolt directly to the manifolds so there's never a chance for the exhaust to develop a "flow" out of the head.

Headers made a difference in power on my car and I don't even have two of my 02 sensor hooked up yet. (And one is a primary o2 sensor ) so I'm running really rich I would imagine since it reading the air in my engine bay.
Still haven't had time to take my car in to have a o2 bung installed

Well unplug it, man! Lol

You can't extend the wires to a bung lower down?

The place in the rear where the o2 goes is to close to the sway bar to fit. Need someone to add one off to the side so I can install the o2 sensor. My rear o2 the threads got messed up from trying to remove it from the old exhaust

They should have a spacer kit for the 70mm one.. no?

Sorry about the bad pic. This is the other side of the stock throttle-body. I just bought a new Hitachi 70mm throttle body i still have to install. I guess this is where the spacer kit would mount?

Heres where the uim plenum collector elbow meets up to the manifold. Could I also install a spacer kit here as well?
One more thing... What would be a good block-off plate thinga majing to switch this stock plate out? Forgot what its called, lol. If anyone could chime in Im very thankful. Thanks -- VQ

when I had a DE in my car I got all the NWP stuff since it's dyno proven. I also modified the stock air box snorkel. the exhaust is the big power choker on the 5.5 gen
